5 Tips To "Get That Glow"

1.       Feed your skin - Diet has a huge impact on our skin and as boring as this sounds feeding your skin from the inside out is a vital step to having a clear complexion. Sugar breaks down collagen and ages skin so we advise you to put down the sugary goods and opt for lots of fresh veggies instead.

2.       Exfoliating - Exfoliating once or twice a week will help get rid of any dead and dull skin, this will allow products to absorb deeper and give you better results. I personally prefer a gentle fruit acid to exfoliate rather than harsh beads. Add a hydrating mask directly after to leave your skin feeling amazing.

3.       The double cleanse – Before you go to bed make sure you do a double cleanse. The first to help get rid of makeup and dirt then cleanse a second time to clear the skins pores from oil and grit.

4.       Add a little vitamin C – This is my super hero ingredient and one of those “all-rounder” products. I like to use a serum due to its high levels of active ingredients that penetrate deeper in to the skin but you can use a moisturiser instead or both depending on skin type. Vitamin C protects from sun damage, helps even out skin tone, stimulates collagen production and is sure to give you that glow!

5.        Put up a barrier – Something I see all of the time is clients investing a lot of time and money in to achieving flawless skin and then falling at the last hurdle by not wearing SPF. Often I have clients say to me but it’s not even sunny outside, why do I need to wear SPF? Well even on a cloudy day up to 40% of the suns UV rays (this is what causes fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and skin cancer) reach earth. AHA’s, BHA’s and other advanced ingredients that are helping us along our skin care journey also leave our skin more vulnerable as they often take away the top layers of skin. So make year round SPF your new favourite designer accessory.

Room to Bloom

Today is the first weekend of sunshine for what has felt like a lifetime! Spring has arrived and the sunshine is out (for how long, we don't know) but it's a time when the layers of clothing we have been hiding under all winter becomes less, we start thinking about our neglected skin.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that the cold weather means there's less humidity but what does this mean for our skin? For most it means redness, roughness, tightness, cracks and peeling. Please don't feel like you are the only one experiencing these problems (it's so common, it's known as 'The Winter Itch'). It's important to keep the skin as hydrated as possible during the winter months but we usually choose to hibernate and avoid human interaction as best as possible.

So when spring arrives and you're wanting to go to the rooftop bar after work or to a club at the weekend with all of your friends you begin to regret neglecting your skin and start having a meltdown to your bestfriend about how you can't possibly leave the house with your skin looking as rough and red as it currently does and although she sympathizes she doesn't deny that you probably shouldn't leave the house looking as you do.

In all honestly, there's only one real solution - book an EMERGENCY facial. The key is to do your research, at Seduire London we offer a free skin consultation (and please don't think 'i've had one before I already know what skin type I am. Your skin is ever changing especially from season to season.) this will enable the professionals to make sensible recommendations and you can take their advice, this stops any 'home remedy' blunders.

Our Medical Microdermabrasion is the perfect treatment to rid you from that winter itch. A mechanical exfoliation that causeslight resurfacing of the skin, in which a portion of the stratum corneum  (dead outermost surface of the skin ) is removed. The superficial abrasion of the skin triggers the body’s own natural repair mechanism which stimulates  the production of new collagen and skin cells leaving your skin looking remarkably smooth and luminous. While their are many different forms of microdermabrasion, crystal being the traditional form, We at Seduire prefer to use orbital microdermabrasion this allows us to adjust the amount of exfoliation for each individual resulting in less redness and being more hygienic due to the disposable tips . It also has the added benefit of LED red & blue light therapy and no that doesn't mean you can sit under your blue Christmas lights and get the same effect. These lights have specific wavelengths that kill bacteria and sooth the skin as well as stimulating collagen making this an ideal treatment for a number of skin concerns. The treatment is finished with a silicon gel mask that has been infused with powerful hydrating properties  for fresher, healthier, younger looking skin. If you have the time (and the funds) we'd recommend a good home care skin management system followed by weekly microdermabrasion treatments, this will keep your skin looking flawless come rain or shine all year round.

Please also remember how important it is to wear sunscreen all year round! A 2013 Australian Study found that people who wore sunscreen every day for nearly five years had fewer wrinkles and signs of ageing than those who wore it less often, not to mention all of the other health benefits of wearing sunscreen!

Winter Pedicures!

Are pedicures for Spring & Summer?

The answer is simple... NO, NO, NO!

First rule is never give up on any part of your body during any month, you miss one pedicure appointment and the next thing you know you haven't waxed you're legs in 6 months and your partner is wondering if the dog is sneaking into bed with you during the night!

So in all honesty there are legitimate reasons to keeping your feet looking fabulous during the winter months.

1. It makes it easier in the long run.
By keeping your feet in tip top shape throughout autumn and winter using professional skincare products will mean you can avoid that awful, embarrassing, almost feel sorry for the therapist feeling on your 'first day back' pedicure where you know you have cracked heels, a chipped polish that was applied 3 months ago and dry feet. (I'd also like to remind you that by not having regular pedicures and changing polishes regularly you are more likely to miss any infection or fungus that could occur.)

2. Everybody likes pretty feet.
Lets face it our lovers LOVE us to be well groomed. Well pedicured & polished feet look amazing and just because they may be the only people seeing them it doesn't mean they should be neglected!

3. Open toe high heels.
So, although technically open toe heels have a season (May through to September), they are your favourite pair of heels and they go perfectly with you're outfit. We say GO FOR IT! Love is love and no one should stand in the way of true love! Wear the shoes ladies, just be prepared for a little chill!

4. Circulation.
A good pedicure increases blood flow around the body and helps the body release toxins.

5. Your weekly gym class.
So summer bodies are made in the winter right? What is more embarrassing then you getting your feet out in your weekly pilates class and finding that they are looking worse then ever? Keep them soft, polished & cute with regular pedi's to avoid this embarrassment.

6. Pamper sessions.
There is no right or wrong time of the year to pamper yourself. Indulging in a little YOU time is not only wanted its NEEDED! Why not stop and have a luxury winter pedicure using paraffin wax with your favourite therapist to de-stress!

7. Prevention.
Exfoliating your feet helps control and prevents the growth of calluses and corns, which not only look unattractive, but also cause discomfort.

8. Winter holidays.
WHO DOESN'T LOVE HOLIDAYS? With lots of winter sun holiday deals don't be caught without perfectly pedicured feet on the beach!
